Hand Sewing for Garment Enthusiasts!
Saturday, May 18,
10am-1pm

$125 or $62.50 for Sew Local Studio members

In this fun 3 hour workshop, we will dive in to the proper techniques of hand sewing for garment making, as well as for garment closures! Throughout the class, participants will learn several hand sewing stitches and we will discuss their uses and applications specifically in garment making. Students will complete their own sampler that includes 8 hand-sewn stitches and a variety of closure styles. This is a great course for beginners or an excellent refresher course for more experienced students! Purchase your kit for $15.95 that includes the fabric, needle, thread, and closures. Please bring a notepad and pen/pencil for taking notes along and a fabric marking utensil (or purchase one at the shop).

This class is taught by Emily N Smith, a Patternmaker for TV and Film. Emily has sewn professionally at several theaters including the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and the LA Opera. She currently freelances in the tv/film industry, working on shows such as HBO’s Love and Death, Star Wars’ Ahsoka and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
